Urology - Mission Statement
The McGill University Division of Urology is dedicated to the achievement of excellence in clinical urologic patient care, research and education. The goal of the faculty is to provide state-of-the-art and comprehensive care to patients in an environment that fosters innovation in surgery and education of medical students, residents, and post-graduate fellows.
The Division is committed to promoting clinical and fundamental research that will translate into improvements in patient care and outcomes in urologic disease.
Division of Urology - McGill University
The Urology Division at McGill University is composed of 18 full-time urologists mostly practicing in the three teaching hospitals and 7 full time scientists attached to the Research Institutes of the McGill University Health Centre and the Jewish General Hospital. The Division organized its activities to provide Centers of Excellence in each of the clinical and teaching sites. The research component corresponds to the vocation and the mission of each hospital. Urologic oncology and oncology research is concentrated at the Cedar Cancer Centre with neurophysiology and management of urinary incontinence and oncology at the Jewish General Hospital and research in infertility, andrology, BPH and stone disease concentrated at the Royal Victoria Hospital. The objectives of these concentrations and the research relating to them is to provide the best possible care for patients afflicted with urologic problems relating to each one of these centers of excellence. By combining research and clinical expertise we provide for the patients state of the art, cutting edge treatment modalities that are evolving on a regular basis and keeping pace with all new technologies. The availability of these centers of excellence provides the optimum material for training residents in a comprehensive program complimented by the availability of basic scientists to provide the infrastructure for research training as well as post training fellowships. The availability of such a variety of research and clinical expertise provides for excellent research fellowship opportunities in almost every discipline of urology.
